Can I use an Atom Echo to 'smarten' an LED string
-
I have an Oliver Bonas LED light string that has stopped working after only 2 Christmases. I also have a spare Atom Echo that I'm not using. I was wondering if I can use one of the pin outs from the Atom to control the LED string?
I have disassembled the control unit and the 3 AA (1.5v but series so 4.5v) batteries are wired straight to the LED +ve wire out so I thought the 5v output pin of the atom would work (with the right resistor) but I found a post that suggests that the 5v pinout is always powered. The same post said that the other output pins (G21 / G25) are only 3.3V which I don't think is enough power for the LEDs.
Any advice would be greatly apricated! Including any where I can get some starting code to make them fade in / out - assuming that's even possible.
Thanks.
