M5CoreS3: "ERROR Device type unknown" when trying to connect both CoreS3 and CoreS3 SE to Server.
-
New user, and quite old< trying to make use of UIflow2. Arduino is good but not micropython
-
@PhilB79 did you tried to update its firmware to latest via m5burner?
-
@PhilB79 Can you upload a small Arduino IDE test file?
Like a generic serial monitor test? -
@PhilB79 What's reporting the error?
-
@PhilB79
Yes to the latest version more the once -
@teastain
UIflow 2 / Select device / RED dot next to the CoreS3 graphic. Same applies to CoreS3 -
@robski
Can do but not until later today -
@PhilB79 you have to use M5Burner when loogged in so firmware update "binds" your device in to your uiflow account and then it is visible on the list if connected to internet.

Yes I use the full process of Erase, Bind and Burn. Tried many time but still the Red dot in device select.
I'm about to give up and put the lot in the bin and go back to ESP32s -
Hello @PhilB79
before you give up.
For the dot to turn green of any M5Core in the
My Device
list the M5Core needs to have a wireless connection and an established connection to the UIFlow2 cloud server.On the initial UIFlow2 screen on the M5Core there are two symbols, one for wireless and one for the cloud server, in the top right corner (next to the battery symbol).
- the wireless symbol needs to be not crossed out.
- the cloud server symbol needs to be without question mark.
Below are the steps these two icons go through after boot up / reset of the M5Core:
Wireless not ok - Cloud not ok
Wireless ok - Cloud not ok
Wireless ok - Cloud ok
Thanks
Felix -
@PhilB79 so after such process is your device showing connected to uiflow cloud? is it showing your email address (all should be visible on device startup page)
see my core2 example -

UIflow 2 / Select device / RED dot next to the CoreS3 graphic. Same applies to CoreS3silly question but you are logged in to Uiflow2 with same login credentials as in M5Burner (bind)
