M5stack STEP 3D files

Hi M5stack.
Would it be possible to add STEP 3D models to all products. It's very convenient for project planning.
Regards

What is Step 3d
Why not enter this question in Google search and get 1000s of answers ?

What's the meaning of "STEP 3D"?
-
It's CAD models. You know how to program arduino, but not how to use Google?

it is really wide used and known data exchange form.
Really, never heard of it before, I only know of DXF, stl and gcode.
In fact I'm pretty sure that most people have not heard of the step format and so can't be bothered to search or try to help out on a foreign file format.
In fact, the M5's own cad module is configured for gcode. The point is that you should have been more informative in your first post.

File Types for 2D Modeling
.dxf: (AutoCAD DXF) (drawing interchange format) is a CAD data file format developed by Autodesk for enabling data exchange and interoperability between AutoCAD and various other programs. It was developed in 1982 and is regarded as a legacy format incapable of storing some modern CAD data.
3D Files for Printing
.STL: STL (STereoLithography) is a file format native to the stereolithography CAD software created by 3D Systems. STL is also known as Standard Tessellation Language. This file format is supported by many other software packages; it is widely used for rapid prototyping and computer-aided manufacturing. STL files describe only the surface geometry of a three-dimensional object without any representation of color, texture or other common CAD model attributes. An STL file describes a raw unstructured triangulated surface by geometries located within a standard Cartesian coordinate system. STL coordinates must be positive numbers, there is no scale information, and the units are arbitrary. All of these facets enable slicing software to interpret the models and produce .gcode files for 3D printer host software.
3D Files for Modeling
.STEP or .stp: refers to a STEP file, which is an abbreviation of: Standard for the Exchange of Product model data. These files represent 3D objects in CAD software, and can contain related information. It was designed as a successor to IGES (.igs), although it has not fully replaced it. STEP files are as close to the universal standard of 3D modeling as is currently available. STEP files are used in many industries and can contain data from the entire life-cycle of a product's design.

Step files tend to be mainly used by professional product design software such as d'assault systemes line of CAD software CATIA and Solidworks. While providing STEP files would make it much easier for our users to quickly edit and reproduce different housings for the M5 it also poses some challenges. Doing so would also make it easier for our competitors to Shanzhai our products whereas with stl files it would require a bit more reverse engineering. We also decided to release these files and subsequent files in stl format as we realise this is the most common format used by makers who wish to 3D print the parts or modify them in some simple 3D software such as Tinkercad or Blender. At M5 we wish to make our products more Open Source and easier for our users to develop with therefore we would be interested to hear your thoughts on this matter

Just resume this request
any chance to get STEP or even STL file of the “core module” ?
I’m developing my custom expansion board and beside using the cad model available for the proto as base line I would like to make a full rendering and project design including core
mechanical drawing and final object rendering is quite tricky without a precise CAD model of core
thanks
